2007 progress report

How's it going?

So far this year I'm feeling a bit confident about things in life:

I'm about to start on my modelling hobby (!). I'm going to start a blog about it here. I got the go ahead to use my holiday present, an airbrush spray booth. This was the one big thing that I had to get to really get this hobby off the ground... or so I say. I do have a habit of buying things as a crutch to "get serious." Only time will tell but still I have a good feeling about it.

I want to get the Erase Errata fan page going. I've been thinking about writing down Ellie's bass tabs and it would be a great way to get this project going. OR Imagine: taking bass lessons from Ellie! eep! *dies*

Do I really want to get back into role playing games? I think so. I went to a minicon at the Endgame last weekend and it was surprisingly fun.

I have to dust off my telescope, more specifically, clean the lens and collimate it. I'm missing all the stuff that's going on in the universe.

The Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass is sadly on hold. I am in so much debt and really, I should be happy and grateful with the Ibanez that I have. Unfortunately, I heard this guy play one slap style at the Guitar Center over the holidays in LA and it was delicious. He was so funky he drew people while he played! I asked him about it and he handed it over and I played a meek and embarassed bassline to "Listen Up!" by the Gossip. But the bass was so smooth and so light. Drool.

oh and finally, maybe, perhaps, my career isn't with art. I know "art" is life in the chessiest sense but realistically, financially, maybe I should just make lots of money and pursue art as hobbies and by making the big bucks I will fund any art I want, myself, bands, childrens, et. al.

holidays 2006

I spent the holidays down in LA with my family. I used to have a love and hate relationship with LA but now I only have hate, mostly because of the traffic...

But I did get to have mom's Korean food. Unfortunately I failed again at learning how to cook.

I met up with some old friends: Eric, an artist I met at the SF Zinefest a few months back, Sheila and Jenn, from all the s-k shows and Rory, from the s-k.net message boards. We all met at one of the best Korean restaurants in town only to find out at the last minute that all the ladies were vegetarians and never had Korean food before. :o Ah well, next time, I'll have to pick a safer place or someone else can decide. Needless to say, Eric and I loved our neng-myun and gahl-bi ($24.99!).

Also, my brother and I were looking around for a "new" car for our mom since she's been driving her car for exactly 10 years. We looked into getting a Mercedes C class but at the dealership they had a used black on black BMW Z4 3.0 in automatic. This would be my mom's dream car so we took it as a sign and the price was incredible so there ya have it: Happy holidays mom! The best part of all of this is that my brother ALSO has a Z4. His is black on red.

Ok, I'll give you one thing about LA, the flight into and out of LA always amazes me:

For new year's my friend invited me to a house party. We head over to Daly City and between 10PM and 12AM I consumed the following:

3 beers
1 sake lychee martini
1 strawberry margarita
1 double shot of citron vodka
3 glasses of champaign

I didn't pass out but I fell asleep on the dining room floor. I felt a bit embarrassed and really really sick but didn't throw up. I'm still amazed I drank that much so fast. I was dizzy and nauseous and everything was a blur on the drive back. Thank god Eric doesn't drink as much anymore. Throughout the party all his friends told stories of how he could down a bottle of Jack. Those must have been some times...

And finally, cute cats! Jenn and Sheila have three supercute cats.
